Lenny and Larry’s Coupon Codes…and Bad Moms

Hey everyone how’s it going?

I have been ridiculously busy with a course I had to take for work, and by the time I got home every night I was so mentally exhausted that I was physically exhausted as well. Well good news is, it’s over and I passed with flying colors 😀

I am happy that I can get back to blogging more often now! My diet and fitness routine in general has certainly suffered over the last two weeks, and I am excited to get back on schedule with everything.

Went to see Bad Mom’s last night, and in a word…HILARIOUS! I laughed the entire time. I would absolutely recommend going to see it if you haven’t already. Make sure you stay in your seats for a minute at the end…they show clips of the actress’s being interviewed with their mothers…and it’s adorable.

Now onto the topic that probably made you click on this post…Lenny and Larry’s coupon codes!! I am happy to announce that I am now an ambassador for this amazing company. If you haven’t tried their cookies, or if you haven’t heard of them before…let me fill you in! Sunday Grocery Shopping-What to Buy in the Freezer Section

Hey how is everyone’s Sunday going so far? I was lazy for most of the day and finally decided I had to get up and get a few groceries to get me through the week (the fridge was looking pretty empty).

Today I wanted to talk to you all about some items that you can pick up in the freezer section to make your healthy life a lot easier. While I am a big advocate of meal prepping, I haven’t been doing a great job of it lately. For the next two weeks I am going to be sitting through a pretty tough class, and although today would usually be my meal prep day, I really just wanted to relax. So I decided to pick up a few of my favorite freezer section items to get me through this week ( and next :D)

Even if you are a faithful meal prepper, I would highly recommend always having a few items like the ones I’m going to be discussing tucked away in your freezer for those times that you need a quick fix.

Jimmy Dean’s Breakfast Bowls-22g protein, 19g carbs, 8g fat

This is my number one favorite breakfast food (except for my mom’s homemade sausage and biscuits of course). There are a few different ones to pick from, along with a few bowls that are for other meals. I always go with the turkey sausage because the macros are a little more favorable.

Tyson’s Chicken Breast Fillets-21g protein, 2g carbs, 2g fat

These bags of already cooked chicken breasts are a life saver. Combine them with a microwaveable cup of minute rice, and you’re ready to go. Chicken Breast Strips are also available, however I have found that the amount of fat on them is much higher than the whole chicken breasts.

Philly Gourmet 100% Beef Burgers=19g protein, 0g carbs, 18g fat

While I was in the freezer section, I compared a couple different brands of burger patties. What impressed me about Philly Gourmet is that the only ingredient listed…is beef!! Most of the other brands had several other hard to pronounce ingredients in them, so when I picked these up and saw only one word listed, I decided to go with them.

Smart One’s Microwave Meals-Varies

Smart One’s are branded by Weight Watchers. While it is in everyone’s best interest to stay away from processed foods (which is what I think of when I think of TV dinners), the macros in most of these are pretty good. Smart One’s macros are better than any of the other microwave dinners I looked at, and they also taste pretty good. They are also cheaper than other ‘healthy’ freezer dinners. I lucked out even more today; found a coupon for $2 off 7 boxes!

Alexia Sweet Potato Fries-1g protein, 23g carbs, 4g fat

When you’re in the market for great carbs, grab some sweet potatoes! While one would normally put these in the oven, I usually throw them in the skillet right alongside whatever I’m cooking (I love pairing these with almond flour crusted tilapia). I usually pick up the sea salt flavor, which is excellent. However, I was feeling froggy today and grabbed the chipotle spicy version. We shall see!

Sugar Free Popsicles-0g protein, 4g carbs, 0g fat

Last but definitely not least in my book, we have sugar free popsicles. I have gotten hooked on these lately, and why not? They are only 15 calories each. They are excellent for cooling you off or hitting that sweet spot without killing your macros. Can anyone say ‘not so guilty pleasure’? 🙂

I hope you all have enjoyed this post today. Go follow my Facebook page for inspiration and laughs to motivate you on your fitness journey!

See you all soon, and stay Ruthless!

Yoga on the Track and Suicide Squad

Hello everyone! It’s been a few days since I posted, however I have been keeping up my daily yoga practice. Except for yesterday, which I regret now. Considering I had a physical fitness test yesterday, of all days it was one I shouldn’t have skipped. On top of that I did a leg accessory workout in the afternoon, so today there isn’t a part of my body that isn’t sore.

So I picked up my daily yoga practice again this morning, and I definitely had to do some alternate poses because of the soreness. It still felt good though. Even though I haven’t been doing it for very long, yoga is starting to bleed over in my every day life. I have noticed that I am practicing my breathing without even thinking about it when I’m at work or when I’m stressed.

Yoga even came in handy when I was running for my PT test. I did a few stretches before hand and practiced my breathing throughout. It certainly helped me keep my mind where it should be.

A few friends and I went to see Suicide Squad last night. I’ve heard that there are a lot of bad reviews about it, however I thoroughly enjoyed it. I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, although I will say there was a part or two I felt was a little weak. But overall pretty great. If you haven’t already…go watch it!!

If you have a minute, go like my Facebook page 🙂

Have a great day, see you guys in the next post!

Yoga Challenge Day 2…Re-evaluations…

Day 2 started at 7 am this morning. First of all I was happy that I stuck to my decision to get up 30 minutes early to complete yoga before my day got started. I wanted to see if it would improve my mood for the rest of the day…and it certainly did.

I’m now considering doing yoga before I go to bed at night…we shall see.

One thing I love about yoga is that during the session you are encouraged to be grateful that you decided to take the time to get on the mat and connect with yourself. While sometimes we may feel that we are selfish and don’t spend enough time/money on other people, is that really true? How much time do you actually take just to take a breath and enjoy yourself? Yoga is perfect for that.

Although weightlifting is my first love, I have been more inspired lately to pursue functional fitness. Yoga, cardio, and bodyweight movements fall into this category. While I feel like I am proficient at weights, diving into some of these other areas of fitness have really made me pause for re-evaluation. Just because you are good in one area doesn’t mean that there isn’t much you can learn from branching out. Changing up my routine has certainly been a challenge for me lately.

Stay tuned for feelings about Day 3! Here is a link to the Yoga with Adrienne routine I watched this morning…enjoy! Day 2-Yoga with Adrienne

Please take a second to follow my Facebook page! I’m always posting videos and encouraging memes to brighten your day!

See you guys soon 🙂

Yoga-Day 1

Hello everyone, hope you are having a good Sunday so far!

Today I have embarked on a new challenge…

Practicing yoga for 30 days.

I have only done yoga a few times in my life (probably five times or less). However every single time I take the time to do it I think to myself…”why on earth don’t I do this more often??”. It doesn’t matter what is going on, what I’m thinking about or how stressed or tired I might be, after yoga I feel amazing. Rested. De-stressed.

Yoga is difficult for me in several ways, which is what makes it a perfect challenge. On a physical level, yoga challenges my flexibility. I am not a naturally flexible person to begin with, and I am terrible at stretching before I work out. Weightlifting definitely decreases my flexibility, and if I try to go for a run I find that my hips are very tight.

Yoga challenges me on a mental level because it forces you to be present and clear your mind. I am a very restless individual, I always feel the need to fidget around or move every five seconds. At any given moment there are a million thoughts flying through my mind. Sometimes that can make it hard to focus or even to fall asleep at night.

I went for a run today and decided to cool down with some yoga after I got back. I pulled up YouTube on my TV and did a quick search. Yoga with Adrienne popped up, and I clicked on the first day of a 30 day yoga challenge. It was absolutely amazing, and instantly inspired me to complete the challenge.

I want to do yoga at least once a day. My plan is to wake up 30 minutes early so I can start the day off with it. I want to use this time to create a yoga habit that I continue with even after this month.

I hope you will consider completing this challenge with me! Here is the link to the yoga video I watched today: Yoga Challenge Day 1

Talk to you guys soon!

Seminole Wind

Blow, blow Seminole wind, blow like you’re never gonna blow again…

When I think of the word ‘wind’, this song is the first thing that comes to mind. For those that haven’t heard it, it refers to the toll that ‘progress’ can take.

I have been away from home for over five years now, and every time I return I feel like the winds of change have swept through, each time more mercilessly than the last.

The old water tower is gone.

The old high school baseball field is grown over with weeds.

My favorite dirt road to my grandparent’s house is now paved.

All in the name of progress.

What constitutes progress in a person’s life? In reference to the wind-progress is not something that happens whenever the wind blows through and rearranges things because they weren’t steadfast in the first place. That is simply weakness. That is simply change, and not for the better.

Progress is not something that can be affected by a blast of metaphorical wind. Progress is definitive, it is decided. Progress is tough; it’s not something that happens automatically or through a fluke. If you want to change for the better, you will have to fight for every last bit of it. Tooth and nail. Every single day. For the rest of your life.

Every year in January people make their New Year’s Resolutions. They say they are going to be healthier. Lose weight. Go to the gym. Spend more time outdoors. But how long is it before resistance of every sort becomes too much, and they slowly quit?

Will you allow the wind and weather of life to stop you? To slow you down? To discourage you? Or will you turn your back to the wind and hang onto your dreams for dear life?

You are stronger than the wind, if only you decide to be.

Wind

Unstoppable-ME and YOU

So the post challenge for today is to respond to what comes into your mind when you think of the word ‘unstoppable’.

Well that would be…ME.

And YOU.

There are many obstacles in this world that are thrown at us to try to block us from accomplishing our dreams. These obstacles might be intentional or not. Maybe there is someone that is standing in your way. Maybe it’s excuses you are making. The list goes on and on, but so does the list of your goal and desires. Which one will you allow to outweigh the other?

The challenges we face are both mental and physical. We have to push past that ‘I can’t do it’ or ‘I don’t know if I can’ attitude. We have to keep pushing when we feel tired.

At the end of the day, the only thing stopping you…is you. If you want something bad enough, you will do absolutely everything to accomplish it. You will go above and beyond what you ever dreamed possible to get it done.

Hungry=Unstoppable

Stay hungry. Never be satisfied. This makes me think of the tag line on my main blog page; a motto I like to live by: Satisfaction leads to complacency. Complacency leads to normalcy. And normalcy leads to nothing.

Do you want to be ‘normal’? Do you want to be like everyone else? Or do you want to stand out? Stand the test of time? Be timeless?

How many people wander through life, dragging themselves through their days, never finding real happiness and purpose? Don’t be like everyone else. You can be unique, IF YOU NEVER STOP. You must START. TODAY. Anything that you want. Just makes sure it’s SOMETHING. Something that will make you happy, that will make you feel like you have accomplished something. Something to make you smile, to make your heart feel light, to make your soul tingle.

Then, and only then, you can be…

UNSTOPPABLE.
